The Panhandle Area Educational Consortium’s FloridaLearns Academyuses the latest technology to make research-based professional development for educators accessible, engaging, and practical. Whether through television programming, broadcast on the Florida Education Channel, or Web-based courses and online follow-up for professional development activities, available via the electronic Professional Development Connections (ePDC), the FloridaLearns Academy offers educators across the state a variety of options for obtaining timely and relevant information.

Through the electronic Professional Development Connections of the FloridaLearns Academy Academy, educators and administrators have the capacity to plan, follow-up and evaluate professional development activities. Professional development offerings are also delivered electronically, by means of a large variety of online courses available through the ePDC. These high-quality online courses meet or exceed Florida ’s Professional Development System Protocol Standards. In addition, the ePDC serves as a record storage and retrieval tool to track the professional development activities of educators.

Using the Academy, every educator in every district has equal access to professional development, delivered in a manner that requires less time away from the classroom and students. This capability translates into increased academic achievement for students and financial savings for districts.
